How Do You Renew?
How Do You Renew?
Happy Spring, finally! As many across America experienced an unusually challenging Winter weather, a question arises: “How do we reboot our Winter-weary souls to once again enjoy the hope of Spring?” No matter where you live, the miracle of sprouts emerging from months-long dead ground is always a marvel to witness! The faithfulness of those little buried bulbs planted months earlier to sprout from the earth, and to see barren trees burst forth with new life year after year, is breathtaking. Psalm 104:30 says, “When you send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.” This is a promise from God. If He can renew the face of the ground, I believe He can renew the joy and fresh energy in our hearts, minds, and souls. Another restorative promise from God is found in Joel 2:25, which says, “I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.” I cling to this promise often, even when I am tempted to focus on loss rather than all the ‘gain’ the Lord has provided me.
For such a time as this, more than ever, believers need to be more resilient. God expects all true believers who rightly represent Him on this Earth to be bright lights in this increasingly dark world. Proverbs 4:18 soberly explains, “But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.”
May we cling to, and be encouraged by, our Lord’s promises, which He is faithful to always keep, as we choose to Walk in His Way.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the miracle of Your creation, which manifests Your power, love, and great generosity to Your children. Please renew, restore, rejuvenate, and fill us with exceeding joy as we embark upon this lovely new season of Spring. No matter what our circumstances, Your unfailing love can sustain us through all the storms of life, as we put our trust in You. We believe this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
