A Gift Worth Waiting For

Peace on Earth

How do you approach God to ask for something so grand as peace on Earth? Here’s a prayer I spoke asking for peace. I opened with giving thanks and acknowledged God’s sovereignty. The things we want versus those we need are what God measures against the attitude of our hearts. Trust Him, He listens.

Lord Jesus, I come to you in humble thanksgiving for all that you’ve done to set me free from the bondage of sin. Because of you, I have peace with the Father in heaven, and I can never thank you enough. I talk to you about so many things because I know that you hear me, and I know that when my prayers are answered, it’s because it was also God’s will for me. I confess that it took me a long time to understand this. But in time and with a better understanding of your words of scripture, I could see the difference between covetous desire and practical need. And with this came peace in my heart. It’s amazing how easily I slip into old patterns of unbelief when I try to do things my way, only to discover that regret soon follows. My peace is disturbed. I learn my lesson, repent, and confess my guilt to you, and of course, you forgive me, and I have peace once again. You have so much patience with me, Lord! Because I know it’s your will, I humbly ask for peace on Earth. I’m asking because I believe that you want all men on Earth to live in peace with one another. This is the reason for my hope – I know that you will hear from heaven and give us peace because, right now, the world is in chaos. There are conflicts and wars around the world. Please stop the agendas of those who are against peace. I pray for the world leaders to be humbled and seek Your wisdom. I pray for peace on Earth to men of goodwill. Give us Your peace, Lord Jesus. Thank you for hearing my prayer for peace.
