God’s Help Through Financial Crisis

How Do You Define Crisis?

At any given time and without fail, someone will find themselves in dire straits. We don’t often receive an advanced notice or warning that trouble’s ahead because we’re busy getting on with life. But then the day comes when we enter a season of great difficulty with no possible end in sight.  The deck chairs on the Titanic are beginning to slide one way, and the ship is sinking fast. What is there left to hold on to? You feel alone. It’s your fault this happened, but you were never ready to deal with it, so you procrastinated until your phone lit up with unknown numbers on the other end. They notice at work when you keep looking at your phone every time the display light flashes an incoming call. Now, everyone will know your secret because you thought you could handle it alone. But the lights are flashing red for danger, and the word CRISIS enters your mind before panic sets in. Crisis is defined as “a time of intense difficulty, trouble, or danger.” Does this sound familiar? These conditions are derived from something everyone is familiar with – stress – which is how we physically and mentally respond to these difficult and troubling conditions. Stress, as we know it, comes to us by varying means. When left untreated or ignored, it can produce devastating results for the afflicted person. It is important to be honest when you have reached a crisis moment and see the lights flashing red. Where and to whom you turn in these times of great pressure will ultimately bring trauma or solace. Do you seek the comfort of friends and family, or do you avoid them because you fear their judgment or their offer of help? Do you, instead, seek the Lord in prayer and cry out to him for help? In Matthew 11:28-29, Jesus invites you to give him your troubles, and he will see you through them. He says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” The crisis presented in this module concerns the prayers of the one burdened by financial woes. If you are willing to trust and believe him at his word, the Lord can and will lighten your burden of finances. Do not let your heart be troubled and your body succumb to stress because you feel there is no hope. Instead, seek God’s Help Through Financial Crisis and celebrate the victory of your impending liberty from stress and its damaging effects. You can trust the Lord at his word.
