Lord, We Need a Revival!

Send us Fresh Fire!

How would you explain the current state of the world to a visiting angelic messenger sent from God to glean advanced information from his people—his Church? What if God chose you as an ambassador of this world, responsible for hospitality and providing crucial information that would impact the lives of everyone on the planet? Are you equipped to give an account knowing it would affect everyone? Well, that’s a question none of us is prepared to answer, nor would we like to be in the position of speaking on behalf of others. To stand as spokesperson of planet Earth before God is too great a burden for anyone. There would be no volunteers rushing forward with hands raised! But, before Jesus left the Earth, he told his disciples not to leave Jerusalem but to “wait for the promise of the Father” that they would be “baptized with the Holy Spirit” within days of His departure. This “baptism” of the Spirit ushered in the Church Age, which, biblically, falls between the Pentecost and the Rapture of the Church.  According to Paul’s encouraging message to the Thessalonian believers, this period of God’s grace over the whole planet will not end until after his Church is lifted from the world and taken to the Lord’s presence.

Between these epochs are still yet unfulfilled covenantal promises between God and Israel. Until such time, we are sojourners in a world hostile to followers of Jesus Christ, but our Lord has given us a Great Commission that we are to obey. Wickedness prevails, and darkness appears to be winning. We are living during a time foretold by Jesus as a warning to His disciples. “And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:10-14, ESV).

Our reserves are low, and we collectively join as one to lift our prayers to God to ask that by His Spirit, He will pour down fresh fire as He did on that Day of Pentecost. In order for the gospel of Jesus to continue to advance, we need the Holy Spirit’s powerful thrust to strengthen our resolve to stay the course and shout to the world, “the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand! Repent! Your salvation comes from Jesus alone!” It’s time to ask the Lord to revive our hearts and send us Fresh Fire!
