The Two Easters

The Two Easters

Did you know we are living between two Easters? The age we are living in now begins with the resurrection of the Redeemer, Jesus Christ, and, according to Revelation 20:6, ends with the resurrection of the redeemed. Between the two Easters, God has been calling and continues to call out of this world “A chosen people, A royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession…” (1 Peter 2:9).

Without the first Easter, there could be no last Easter. Think about it for a moment. There would be no redeemed to spend eternity with. No one to experience the fullness of God’s joy, no one to bask in the pleasures of God, such as no more tears, no more crying, and no more pain. There would be no souls from every tongue, tribe, and nation worshipping at God’s Throne. If Jesus had not been raised, there would be no last Easter! But praise God, He did raise Jesus from the dead! Jesus is, according to 1 Corinthians 15:20, “the first fruits of those who are asleep.”  Praise the Lord!

Do you realize, without the first Easter not only would there be no last Easter, there would be no one, right now, to witness to you of the saving power of the Gospel; Jesus Christ, as God in the flesh, lived a sinless life, he died on a cross paying God’s penalty for your sins, he was buried, and he rose from the dead 3 days later. The first Easter is the Father’s exclamation point that He accepted Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross! Believing this Gospel is all about recognizing that Jesus did this for you. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Beloved, when you believe in the first Easter, the Father punches your ticket to the last Easter, and beyond! Praise God! O, believe and be saved today!
