The Absurdity of it All

The Absurdity of it All

Have you ever considered God’s plan for your salvation? Listen to some thoughts taken from chapter 3 of Max Lucado’s book called, “God Came Near.”

“God the Son became a baby, born in a stable. Raised in a blue-collar home He never wrote any books, never held public office, yet He called Himself the Son of God. He never traveled outside His country, He never attended university or sat under any great teachers. He never lived in a palace, and yet He wanted to be known as the Creator of the Universe. He taught people about God and how to live a pure life. He was betrayed by His own people and was crucified; not one of His followers came to His defense. He was buried in a borrowed grave and after 3 days He was resurrected and appeared to over 500 people. All this to prove how much God loves you and provides a way for you to be reconciled to the Father.”

O, the absurdity of it all! And yet, it is only absurd until you understand that Jesus came to bring light into your world. It is only absurd until you realize that Jesus meets the deepest needs of your heart. And it is only absurd until you embrace Jesus as God in the flesh, offering forgiveness of sin and everlasting life if you will believe in Him.

Beloved, the salvation story is an absurd love story that demonstrates just how much God loves you! Believing in Jesus may also seem absurd but it is what you are to do because Jesus died for you! “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). O, the absurdity of it all!
