O B E D I E N C E

Written in the 1970s by Mike & Ruth Greene, this action song continues to be a favorite in Children’s Ministries worldwide. Its message is crystal clear and straight from the Bible: O B E D I E N C E. Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe! Jesus said in John 8:31, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.” And, in John 14:15, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” 

The Bible teaches us that the Christian life is a life of action that leads to exploits that witness to the world that God is in our lives. Would Noah have ever built the Ark without obeying the word of God? Would Abraham have ever uprooted his family, and left his hometown, and sojourned to a place even he didn’t know he was going to without obeying the word of God? Would Gideon, with only 300 men, have ever defeated the massive Midianite army without obeying the word of God? And would you have ever repented of your sin and turned to Jesus for salvation without ever obeying the word of God? Obedience is not always easy. Sometimes, obeying God’s Word is the hardest thing to do. Many people struggle to trust that God will take care of them, but if you believe God’s Word, you must obey it. The God of the Bible that took care of Noah, Abraham, and Gideon, will reward you for your obedience and take care of you too! 

Beloved, do you want God to witness to the world that He is in your life? Are you ready for action and exploits for Jesus? If you are, embrace His word and His will in your life and begin living like the Psalmist who said, “I hasten and do not delay to keep your commandments” (Psalm 119:60). Indeed, “obedience is the very best way to show that you believe.”
