Get it Done!
Get it Done!
Do you realize we live in the best of times when it comes to access to God’s word? We have it on our phones, on our tablets, and on our computers. We can read it to ourselves or listen to someone else read it to us. But, unless we do what it says, the Bible won’t do us, or anyone else, any good, James 1:22 says, “…don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” James, the brother of the Lord, exhorts us, “Get it Done!”
Did you know Gallup polls in the last 15 years reveals 33% of Americans, age 18 or older, have made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ; they profess to be born again. What’s scary about this is that it means 59 million Americans have claimed to have had a personal revival, while at the same time having had an impotent effect on our society! Why is this? Could it be, because they have become familiar with God’s word, without being changed by it? They might read it; they might even memorize some of it. But they have not allowed God’s word to change who they are or affect how they live because they don’t do what it says; they are not getting it done! Listen, hearing without doing is simply a gospel of addition without subtraction. It’s the belief that you can add Christ to your life without subtracting sin. It’s a change in belief without a change in behavior. It’s revival without reformation, revival without transformation, it’s revival without repentance. God forbid!
Beloved, Christians are not called to be normal people; Christians are called to be a peculiar people, zealous for good works, adamant, firm, on fire, unstoppable. That’s why James exhorts us to be people who Get it Done! Listen, if you are one of the 59 million, repent of this sin and ask God to change your heart. Starting today, put feet to whatever it is God is saying to you in His word and watch Him change you and the world around you. If you are not getting it done, you are only fooling yourself! Get it Done!
