Marketplace Ministry: Part One
Hello, and welcome to In the Lighthouse: your safe harbor from the storm. This is Daphne Collins, your Lighthouse Keeper . . . and I am the Lady With the Lamp, Melissa Saenz, enjoying safe harbor with Daphne here In the Lighthouse. We’re glad to have you join us today as we begin our discussion of Part One of Marketplace Ministry. Yes, and before we begin our discussion, we want to give you the email address for this show. You can reach us at: TheLighthouse@carrythelightministries.com. Melissa and I would very much like to hear what the Lord has done for you. Exactly! Your story is important to us, even if you feel like no one wants to hear about your issues. You may never know the impact your testimony can have on the life of someone who feels isolated and alone. Many of us can go through life with issues that have been suppressed for years, when suddenly a life-altering event causes the very thing we hoped to forget about to surface. This is when we find ourselves in the midst of a storm with torrential winds blowing from all sides. This is why it can be therapeutic for you, and life-changing for the person listening, to hear your story. In Mark 5:19, Jesus gave permission to the man who was possessed by a legion of demons to tell his story. He told the man, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” Romans 10:14 asks, “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? So, take that first step of choosing not to give in to those strong winds that would otherwise hinder a good testimony, and email us today. Again that address is: TheLighthouse@carrythelightministries.com. Okay, let’s get started!
The word “fragile” is defined as something that is easily broken or damaged if referring to an object; however, when referring to a person, the words delicate or vulnerable are presented. In Part One of Marketplace Ministry, we met Lutisha Goebel, owner and operator of Phoenix Strange Brew Coffee & Market in Glendale, Arizona. Tish shared her heart wrenching account of a childhood fraught with trauma from extreme abuses permitted and perpetrated by her biological mother. We learned that God provided a saving grace to the little girl in the person of her maternal grandmother, the woman who became her shelter in the storm; the one who introduced her to church and Jesus. But a fragile child cannot grasp the difference between a loving grandmother and the Lord of her salvation – time would demonstrate that understanding. Melissa and I will discuss this transition from childhood into adulthood and Tish’s recognition of how the Lord was with her in the darkest moments of her life. The revealing and removal of things that hindered her relationship with the Lord who was introduced to her as a child by her grandmother – a rich legacy of faith that leads to action.
It’s important to note that some parts of this broadcast may not be suitable for younger audiences, so I caution adults and parents to use discretion with your young ones when listening to this episode.
