The Greatest Gift
The Greatest Gift
When I think of Christmas, I think of gifts: treasures I have received in the past, gifts I took a long time choosing to give others, and of course, the greatest gift of all, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He left his eternal throne in Heaven and came to Earth, incarnated a baby to the lineage of David according to the prophecies regarding his birth. And, according to the Prophet Isaiah, “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not” (Isaiah 53:3, ESV). Because of man’s wickedness and blindness, he who knew and showed only love would eventually suffer, die, and rise again so that all who call upon his name to save them from their sin, may walk in joy, peace, freedom, and love. What a treasure salvation is!!!
During this season celebrating the birth of Jesus, I pray to receive the gift of Jesus’ unfailing love, mercy, and grace to my family, friends, and neighbors. How about you? Would you like to receive the greatest gift, one that is unmerited and given only by God?
Let us Walk in His Way:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for all the great gifts you have given us. This Christmas, help us to pay that gift forward, by being your ambassadors for peace on Earth and good will to all. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
