The Pillars of the Church: Transformed by the Power of God
Do you believe God can change you, that you can be transformed into a man or woman of God? The greatest story in all the Bible that witnesses to a transformed life is the story of the Apostle Peter.
Arguably the most well-known of the original twelve disciples, Peter’s life soared to great heights: he walked on the water, he was the first to acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God, he witnessed the glorified Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration, he preached the first sermon at Pentecost, and 3,000 people were saved. He raised Tabitha from the dead and was the first to bring the gospel to the Gentiles when he preached to Cornelius and his family. While Peter’s life soared to great heights, he also wallowed in the gutter. When Jesus was arrested, Peter grabbed a sword and cut off the ear of Malchus, the servant of the High Priest. When he walked on the water, he also sank beneath the waves. Did you know that once Jesus rebuked him and called him Satan? He even denied, three times, that he knew the Lord. But his story doesn’t end there. He repented and was transformed by the power of God into a humble, spirit-filled, surrendered, and willing servant. He became a powerful preacher and leader in the early church at Jerusalem and the main character in the first 12 chapters of the Book of Acts; he even authored two New Testament books.
Beloved, if God could take an impulsive, uneducated, vacillating, impatient, and selfish, overconfident fisherman and transform him into the pillar of the church that he became, imagine what He can do in you! Like Peter, you can be transformed by the power of God! Do you believe He can change you? Do you believe God can transform you into a man or woman of God? Today, start putting God’s word into practice and then get your seatbelt on because you will never be the same! Hallelujah!
