THE RIGHT ANSWER

THE RIGHT ANSWER

If you were to die tonight and you found yourself standing before God and he asked you, “Why should I let you into my Heaven?” What would you say?

Perhaps you would say something like, “I’ve been pretty good overall. I don’t steal. I don’t lie unless I absolutely have to. I’ve never killed anyone. I go to church. I’ve been baptized. I read the Bible, I even pray. Great answers, right? Actually, none of these things are of any use at all when it comes to entering Heaven. In fact, any answer which places confidence in who you are or what you have done is useless.

The Apostle Paul tells us, in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Paul is telling us that salvation cannot be earned by doing good works. “It is the gift of God.”

Beloved, salvation is not about the good things you have done for God; it’s about the good things Jesus has done for you. He died on the cross so that you could be forgiven your sins. Once you have received this gift by placing your faith in what Jesus did for you on the cross, you will be accepted by God, and He will welcome you into His Heaven. Praise the Lord! The right answer to the question goes something like this: “God, you should let me into your heaven, not because of anything I’ve done, but only because of what Jesus has done for me.” Tonight, should you find yourself standing before God and He asks you that question, what would you say?
