The Mystery of the Resurrection
The Mystery of the Resurrection
Did you know that during Jesus’ earthly ministry He raised three people back to life, but He did not resurrect them? Jesus did not resurrect Jairus’s daughter in Mark 5:21-43, or the son of a widow woman in Luke 7:11-17, and Lazarus in John 11:38-44. Instead, Jesus “restored” them back to life! In other words, Jesus raised them from the dead.
Here’s the mystery: The morning of the Resurrection of Christ, Jesus was not “restored back to life.” Jesus was Resurrected! Those who were raised from the dead would die again, but Jesus Christ, at His resurrection, was raised in an immortal, incorruptible, forever body that will never die, get old, get sick, or get hurt! Praise the Lord!
Jesus Christ is “the First-Fruits” from the dead, The Apostle Paul tells us this in 1 Corinthians 15:20 (ESV) when he declared, “But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.”
But this reality doesn’t end there. 1 John 3:2 (ESV) crescendos to the climax of this story as John tells us, “…we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.”
Beloved, are you excited to not only see Jesus in His resurrected body but to also, one day, be raised in an immortal, incorruptible, forever body just like His? Someone once said, “for a person to not believe in the resurrection is like a person eating a fish who doesn’t believe in bones. Eventually, he will choke to death on that in which he doesn’t believe. Today, come to the empty tomb, look inside, and BELIEVE!
