Immortal Realities & Certainties

Immortal Realities & Certainties

Have you ever asked yourself the question, “Why did Jesus die on the cross?”  What exactly was that all about?

According to some people, Jesus died to give everyone a chance to be saved! I don’t know that I hate anything more than to hear someone say that.  Because, it makes Jesus Christ so little-that He should do so much, and after everything He did, only to offer us a CHANCE to be saved?  What an insult it is to the Lord to fix the eternal honor of God upon CHANCE!

NO! NO! NO!  Thanks be to God for immortal realities and certainties!  “Why did Jesus die on the cross?” Listen to how God answers that question:  Jesus has "put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself;" Hebrews 9:26 (ESV); Jesus did "redeem us from the curse of the law” Galatians 3:13 (NIV); Jesus has "rescued us from the dominion of darkness” Colossians 1:13 (NIV); Jesus has "obtained an eternal redemption for us" Hebrews 9:12 (KJV); Jesus has "redeemed us to God" Revelation 5:9 (KJV).

Jesus has done this great work!  His resurrection from the grave was God’s exclamation point that His sacrifice for our sins was accepted, that sin was destroyed, the law satisfied, God honored, and His people eternally and everlastingly saved. And now “He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25 (NKJV).  PRAISE THE LORD!

Beloved, are you in relationship with Jesus?  He died on the cross because He was “not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (NASB).  In view of all He has done for you, how can you “ignore so great a salvation?” Hebrews 2:3 (NIV).  Today, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” Acts 16:31 (ESV).
