The Armor of God: The Cosmic World War
Did you know that you and I are at war? In fact, right now we are engaged in the mother of all battles, one of cosmic proportions. Long ago, Satan declared in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 that he wanted God’s throne and everything that came with it. From that moment on, there has been fierce spiritual warfare between the forces of evil and God and His people. And, boy, are they well-organized! Paul tells us, in Ephesians 6:12, that we are not at war with “flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” And they have a devastating battle strategy. They blind “the minds of the unbelievers” (2 Corinthians 4:4). They steal God’s word from you (Matthew 13:19). They set traps to ensnare you (2 Timothy 2:24-26), and they fight to keep you from doing God’s will (1 Thessalonians 2:18). Beloved, they want to steal your joy, kill your body, and destroy your soul (John 10:10)!
But praise the Lord, this cosmic world war is not ours, but God’s (2 Chronicles 20:15). As the Sovereign Ruler over the heavens and the earth, He also has a battle plan: God has provided spiritual weaponry that has the ability to counterattack and defeat every scheme the devil tries to use against us. Praise the Lord! God knows that in order for us to be successful against these unseen powers, we must have His supernatural power that He has provided: the Armor of God! If you wear it, you can defeat the enemy and live victoriously. If you ignore it, there will be serious consequences for you, your loved ones, and for the Body of Christ! Beloved, we are at war! “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground...” (Ephesians 6:13). Hallelujah!
