The Biblical Worldview

Did you know that you possess a worldview? It’s revealed in your religious viewpoints, your political allegiances, and in your moral practices. It informs you how you should see this world, your place in it, and the personal standards you should hold yourself to. What’s your worldview?  Is it based on God’s Word or according to the philosophies of this world, such as atheism, humanism, and postmodernism, to name a few? 

A biblical worldview interprets all reality through the lens of Scripture and should be the driving force in the life of the follower of Jesus Christ. Do you make decisions and strive to live your life according to God’s Word or according to the godless philosophies of this world? 

A 2017 Lifeway survey discovered that only 9% of Christians have a biblical worldview. That means 91% live their lives outside the lens of Scripture. No wonder 5 out of 10 Christians surveyed said they believe gambling, cohabitation, pornography, homosexuality, abortion, profanity, drunkenness, and having a sexual relationship with someone other than their spouse are morally acceptable behaviors. Many people today want to be a Christian as long as it’s ok to leave the biblical part out. They want the benefits Jesus offers, not his teachings. If any of this describes you, then carefully examine yourself, as Paul said, in 2 Corinthians 13:5, “to see if your faith is genuine.” 

Beloved, we are engaged in a battle between worldviews: God and His eternal Word versus the world and its godless philosophies. In Matthew 4:4, Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Jesus is commanding you to make His every word the highest priority in your life! If you are not living with a biblical worldview, then right now, repent from following the godless philosophies of this world, commit yourself to the teachings of God's Word, and make God’s biblical worldview the driving force in your life! True repentance results in passionate obedience!
