Intro: The Battle Between Worldviews

Welcome to the theater of the absurd. Sitting next to you is a person who says you have no soul and no spirit; that you are a product of chance evolution. Morals and values don’t exist; only preferences. On the other side of you is a person who says you are spiritual but impersonal, you have no individuality, no rational thought, and there is no distinction between good and evil.  Across from you is a person who says there are many gods and demons, and morality is based on trying to please or appease these gods. At the other end of the room is someone else who says you are a product of society, and truth is relative only to the culture you live in. There are no absolutes. Then there is you. You were raised to believe a personal God does exist and that mankind is his greatest creation. He makes himself known through his creation and by direct revelation, which is where truth, morals, and absolutes are found. Is this all absurd? YES! But it’s also reality! Our world is engaged in a battle between worldviews: it’s God and His eternal word vs. the world and its godless philosophies. At stake are the hearts and souls of men, women, and children across the landscape of this world.   

Everyone, including you, has a worldview. It’s manifested in your religious viewpoints, your political affiliations, and your moral practices. It literally informs you how you should view this world, your place in it, and the moral standards you should hold to. Absurd? No! Reality? Absolutely! 

Beloved, whatever your worldview may be, Jesus says, “…unless you repent, you too will all perish” (Luke 13:3). He warns, “…it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). After you die, whatever decision you made about Jesus in this life will directly affect the decision He makes about you in the next life. Oh, turn away from the world and its godless philosophies! Believe in Jesus Christ and be saved! Is this absurd? To many people, YES! Is this reality? Absolutely!
