Revive Us Again!
Revive Us Again!
What is revival? Is it an increase in sharing the gospel? Or, how about an elevation of our personal standards? Or, what about a higher commitment to “religion?” Revive is a two-syllable word that means “to do something over again” and “to live.” And, if you put those two together we learn that God wants to breathe His life back into each of us! He literally wants us to 'live again!” Praise the Lord!
In Acts 3:19 Peter tells us that revival is when God refreshes His people, he said, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”
The Psalmist said, in Psalm 85:6, that revival is when God restores to His people the joy of His salvation, saying, “Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?”
Charles Finney said that revival is a time of “renewed conviction of sin and repentance, leading to an intense desire to live in obedience to Jesus Christ.” It’s a time when God’s people return to the simplicity of their first love. It’s a time when we gain fresh awareness that Jesus is to be the Lord of our lives, and that we need to intentionally put Him back at the center of our lives. Beloved, are you ready to break fallow ground in your heart and return to seeking the Lord? May the words of the following hymn, “Search Me, O God,” taken from Psalm 139:23-24, be your prayer today and always and may God bless you!
Search me, O God, and know my heart today.
Try me, O Savior, and know my thoughts, I pray.
See if there be any wicked way in me.
Cleanse me from every sin and set me free.
