REVIVAL! People on Fire

REVIVAL! People on Fire

Why do people get so excited when they see something on fire?  Could it be because they understand that fire changes what it burns?

In 1935, Blasio Kugosi, a schoolteacher in Rwanda, Central Africa, became deeply discouraged by the lack of spiritual life in the church and the powerlessness of his own relationship with Christ. So, he closed himself in his cottage for a week of fasting and prayer.  He emerged a changed man. He confessed his sins to those he had wronged, including his wife and children. He preached the gospel at the school where he taught, and to leaders of the Anglican Church in Uganda weeks later. Revival broke out as he called everyone to repentance.  Students, teachers, and church leaders were saved.  Praise the Lord!  They became known as “ABAKA” meaning “people on fire.”

He died shortly thereafter. His ministry lasted only a few weeks, but the spiritual revival fires that sparked through his ministry swept throughout East Africa and continued for decades. Hundreds of thousands of lives were transformed all because one discouraged Christian began to seek God in desperate prayer and God lit him on fire!  Imagine what God could do in our country if some of us did the same!

The Apostle Paul emphatically stated in Romans 12:11, “Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.”  Beloved, the Church needs people on fire!  Like Blasio Kugosi, get alone with God in desperate prayer!  Get your heart right with Him, and others, and God will light you on fire!  Praise God!  John Wesely said, “I get alone with God in prayer. He sets me on fire. The people come out and watch me burn.” Beloved, get on fire for Jesus and watch Him change you, and lives around you!
