Obedience, the True Test of Faith
Obedience, the True Test of Faith
Did you know one day, you will stand before Jesus, and the genuineness of your faith will be tested?
From Matthew 7:21-23, listen to what Jesus has to say about that day, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name cast out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”
In these verses, Jesus makes it clear that the true test of genuine faith in Christ is not found in words or in works. You can learn religious vocabulary, memorize Bible verses, sing religious songs, even preaching, casting out demons, and performing miracles and not be living in obedience to the will of the Father! So, what is the true test of genuine faith in Christ? Jesus gives us the simple answer from Matthew 7:21: he “…who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
Beloved, words and works are not a substitute for obedience to the will of the Father! On that day, when you stand before Jesus, and He examines your life, will He say to you, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” (Luke 6:46 Matthew 7:23). O beloved, today, make certain of the genuineness of your faith. Renounce the pursuit of words and/or works! And take the first step in living a life of obedience to the will of the Father by believing in His Son, Jesus Christ, alone, for salvation! Praise the Lord!
