Just as He Told You

Just as He Told You

Have you ever wondered about that Sunday morning, over 2,000 years ago, when the women went to the tomb, found the stone rolled away, and the tomb empty? Listen to what the angel said, in Mark 16:6-7, “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here…just as he told you.”

Beloved, His arrest, the mockery, the abuse, the crucifixion were just as he told them would happen, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled. Everything went according to God’s plan.

To the disciples who could never get their arms wrapped around what He had been telling them, “It’s just as I have told you!” To His enemies who thought they had won the victory, “It’s just as I have told you!” To Satan and to death itself, who thought they had finally defeated Him, “It’s just as I have told you!” To us, in our foolish pride, relying on our own resume, and then worrying if it will ever be enough, “It’s just as I have told you!” Indeed, Jesus has everything under control.  There is no enemy too powerful that can stand against Him, there are no circumstances beyond His control, there is no one He cannot change, no one with so great a sin that He cannot atone for it, no one too weak, too foolish, too helpless that He cannot bless, comfort, encourage, or heal. Praise the Lord!

Beloved, everything is under Jesus’ control and unfolds according to plan; just as He told His disciples then, and tells His disciples now, in the Word of God. Jesus burst the bonds of death and rose victorious from the grave! Believe in Him and you will not perish but have everlasting life … just as he told you, in John 3:16. One day, if He asks you why He should let you into heaven, what will you tell Him?
