Jesus, Our Wonderful Counselor

Did you know hundreds of years before Jesus was born, it was prophesied that He would be called “Wonderful Counselor?”  Isaiah 9:6 says, "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor…”   

This is an amazing statement because of the incredible picture it paints of Jesus Christ!  The Hebrew word for "wonderful" signifies something indescribably great; something so tremendous, so astonishing, that it’s literally beyond description.  Isaiah is telling us that Jesus is beyond anything we have ever seen; he transcends human experience and imagination; he is extraordinary and beyond the bounds of all human expectation!  As our “Counselor,,” He doesn’t just give good advice. It means He has understanding that is beyond the ways of man; He understands the purposes and plans of God!  His knowledge, intellect, wisdom, and insight far exceed that of any man who has ever lived.  In Jesus Christ, we have someone who, by virtue of His great knowledge and understanding, is abundantly qualified to guide and direct our lives. Someone who is never mistaken or confused. Someone who always knows what to do. Someone who will never lead us astray!  Beloved, wouldn’t you want this “Wonderful Counselor” who knows you, loves you, and understands you, and has all of the answers to your life, guiding and directing you as you navigate the unpredictable terrain of this life?  

Jesus, our Wonderful Counselor, He alone can speak peace to the human heart, strengthen the weak, and give life to those who are spiritually dead.  Won’t you trust in Him today?  You won’t be disappointed!
