Jesus: King of Kings and Lord of ALL
Around 95 AD, the Apostle John shocked the world when he declared something about Jesus that was so radical that it surely raised eyebrows in the hallowed halls of the Emperor of Rome. Yes, that same Ruler who had recently exiled him to the Island of Patmos. That same King who was hailed by his people as the only Sovereign. The same Potentate who was the conqueror of nations. In Revelation 1:5, John boldly proclaimed that Jesus, not Emperor Domitian, is “…the ruler over the kings of the earth.” What? Did he really say that? Yes, he did! And one day, when history is written, and all is said and done, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus, not the Emperor of Rome, nor any ruler of any nation on Earth, is indeed, what the Bible has claimed He has been all along, the King of kings and the Lord of all!
Beloved, what John was so radically saying to the people of his day, and to us today, is that Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of all, and there never has been, there never will be, and there never can be any earthly ruler who is greater than Jesus. Do you realize our only alternative is to bow to Him as our Lord and King? Do you understand that the way you live reveals how much you really believe this? An unknown poet wrote this about the Savior:
Lord Jesus, you reign in splendor, Enthroned at God’s right hand. At your glory we in wonder, Before your majesty, we stand. You have all power in heaven, King of kings on Earth, you are. To your throne we are driven, Praising you near and far. To you God has given all things, By you all things were made. You are Provider and Sustainer, The price for sin you paid. You gave your all to free us, From the judgment of the fall. Therefore, we proclaim you, dear Jesus, King of kings and Lord of all. O, what a Savior!
