Christmas Memories
Christmas Memories
Season Finale
Hello, and welcome to this special Christmas edition of In the Lighthouse, your safe harbor from the storm. I’m Daphne Collins, your Lighthouse Keeper and host for our time together. This episode is the Season Finale for the In the Lighthouse podcast, and I wanted to prepare something special just for you.
Please, come in and get yourself warmed up by the fire. Here, let me take your coat. Yes, just leave your boots right there on the rug. Whew! I can’t believe you braved all that blowing snow. The wind is really gusting hard outside, and the waves are crashing violently against the rocks, yet you chose to accept my invitation to visit. So, mmhm, come on, yes, have a seat . . . so, to reward your tenacity, I thought you would like a little comfort and joy as you cozy up in front of my lovely fire . . . don’t you love the sound of the crackling logs? Hmm, me too . . . I have a couple of holiday beverages for you to choose from: some warm mulled brandy/wine with cinnamon, orange, and a little clove or a nice mug of hot cocoa, and, if you like yours a little sweeter, some marshmallows and a candy cane. Oh, and over there are some excellent snacks on the sideboard should you feel a little peckish. No, no. There’s no judgment here. Remember, it’s cold outside, and you’re here for comfort and joy . . . Cocoa with the works? Good choice. I think I’ll try the mulled wine . . . Be careful; the cocoa’s hot.
Well, now, since it’s the Christmas season, I thought I would read you some short stories from a large book I found in the Lighthouse Library. These were written especially for Christmas; so it was hard to choose because there were so many. I did find a few that I think you would enjoy hearing. One or two you might have heard before, but there were a couple of gems that could become favorites. Either way, I’m grateful for your company and for sharing Christmas cheer with you in front of this wonderful fire. So, go ahead and snuggle under that blanket if you wish, enjoy your cocoa while I sip my wine, and together, we’ll embark on a memorable journey of Christmas Memories.
Okay, let’s get started!
