Strength from the Lord

Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

In what or who do you place your hope?

Hope implies patience and trust and depends on God’s timing. It also requires genuine faith and confidence of his sovereignty. The Lord is faithful. He will provide supernatural strength when we are weak. We have all faced situations that looked hopeless. Perhaps we felt defeated. But when we turn our eyes to the Lord he lifts us, restores our hope, and offers us peace.

The ancient Hebrews viewed the eagle as a mighty warrior. The eagle is known for its strength and courage. Eagles are aerodynamically designed to handle the wind and navigate through storms. Adult eagles do whatever it takes to bring their eaglets to safety. In the same way, God does the same for us because we are his children. When we depend on him, we can be assured that he will give us the strength to persevere in our circumstances. We will thrive when we believe in his promises and trust him.

God loves us; he is compassionate and concerned for us. He empathizes with those who feel like an outcast. God sees the weak and those who feel hopeless and will use the most unlikely people to reveal his power and glory. We can come to him anytime and ask him to replenish us. When we submit to him, he will turn our circumstances into incredible testimonies for his kingdom’s sake and give us the perseverance to overcome obstacles along the way.

How can you trust and rely on God in your current situation?

Can you recall when you felt weak but were empowered through the Holy Spirit?

Father God, thank you for your great compassion for me. You are always there to carry me when I am weak. My hope is in you. Strengthen the resolve of those who feel like they can’t go forward. May they be reminded to look to you and not lean solely on themselves or anyone else. Thank you for your faithfulness. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
