Not of This World
How will you stand up for godliness against the pressures of this world?
The Greek word for “conform” is syschematizo which means to form according to a pattern or mold. Conformity permits external forces like culture or the opinions of others to shape and mold us. Many of us may fall into the temptation of wanting to fit in because we fear rejection. The Apostle Paul encouraged us to pattern our lives after Christ.
Our hearts and minds are where we begin cultivating godliness. We renew our minds daily by immersing them in the word of God through the power of the Holy Spirit. The application of God’s word will lead you to the comprehension of God’s will for your life. A transformed mind will instinctively seek after what God wants. God’s will may not appear logical at first; it may not be pleasurable, but his will is perfect and rewarding.
There is pandemonium all around us. The enemy consistently targets us so that we will compromise our faith. We must not be compelled to follow his wicked agendas promoted by the world. Let us remain steadfast in our faith and reflect on God’s promises. One glorious day, we will be delivered from this world but until then the greatest way to live is to conform to the will of God and serve him with zeal.
What will you do today to renew your mind and strengthen your resolve?
Father God, please help me to stand firm and bold in my faith. When the world tries to pressure me help me to reflect on your promises. As I seek you daily, help me to renew my mind and to pursue your will for my life. It is in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
