God Knows

1 Corinthians 2:11

“For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.”

God Knows

Hi, this is Cherese Collins with An Encouraging Message. One of the most comforting things in life is having a sympathetic ear, someone who truly cares about your struggles. If you’re fortunate enough to have a close friend who will listen when you need to talk through difficulties, that is a true blessing. Sometimes, we’re not seeking answers, but just the solace of their undivided attention.

As believers in Christ Jesus, we’re not just blessed, but we’re uniquely connected. Our connection is not with a distant spirit, but with the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Triune Godhead. This divine Presence is all-knowing and ever-present, and intimately understands the unspoken groanings of our hearts.

The apostle Paul explains this “unique connection” to the new Christian believers to encourage them. In 1 Corinthians 2:11, Paul says, “For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.” The Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence is the promise Jesus made to His disciples before He left this world. He told them, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, to you the things that are to come.” (John 16:13). Some of us are trying to stay afloat during our storms, and sometimes we have a problem articulating our struggles to God in prayer. But we’re not alone in this. The Holy Spirit, who is with us, intercedes for us in our weakness, even when we cannot find the words to pray. In Romans 8:26-27, Paul says, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We don’t know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.”

So, if you are going through something right now, remember that you are not alone. The Lord, your God, is with you in the Person of the Holy Spirit. If necessary, He will pray on your behalf. What I’m saying is that God Knows. You can trust Him to listen and see you through.
