Linus Said It Best
Linus Said It Best
Merry Christmas to you! May the LORD bless you and yours this holy season. It is my hope and prayer that we all take the time this Advent season, no matter what our personal circumstances may be, to breathe and focus on the absolute miracle of Jesus leaving His kingly throne in Heaven to grow in the womb of a woman, be born in a cold, filthy barn and to sacrifice His human life so that we, His creation, could have the opportunity to spend eternity in His presence and experience transformed lives here on Earth.
What a lovely thing God has done for us with this miraculous event by giving us such a joyful way to celebrate, with worship, family, food, gifts, and wonderful music. Ironically, we humans tend to erode the original wonder of Christmas by our humanity, in that, over time, it has become more of a sense of “What will I GET?” instead of “Look what He has given to me.”
This Christmas, may we all remember the wisdom of Linus from “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” when he quoted Luke 2:8-14, “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’ Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.’”
Linus finally stated the obvious. “THAT’S WHAT CHRISTMAS IS ALL ABOUT, CHARLIE BROWN.” And it most certainly is!
Let us Walk in His Way this Holy Christmas Season.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that because Jesus came to Earth to die for our sins, we can be connected to Jesus, the Holy Spirit and You while we live on Earth, with the hope of all eternity spent in Your triune presence. Hallelujah. Amen.
