What We Most Desire

What We Most Desire

It’s the one thing everybody wants. It’s the one thing that’s hard to come by and the one thing that only God can give. What is this elusive desire that’s highly prized? It’s the amazing gift of PEACE. Without this precious gift, we’re like a boat adrift on open water without an anchor, yearning to find the shore. But what exactly is peace and what does it bring?

Some would say it’s the acronym: Perfect Enjoyment And Constant Ease.

I believe peace is not the absence of chaos but rather the sense of God’s presence, power, mercy, and love in any situation.

God promises us His peace in many ways; for example, in John 14:27 (NKJV), He says, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” But how do we attain that peace?

The Lord also assures us in Philippians 4:6-8 that if we begin to feel a little anxious, we should come to Him with our requests along with a thankful heart, and His peace, which passes all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. He goes on to say that if we think about things that are lovely, valuable, and worthy of praise, His peace will be with us. That sounds like a good plan to me.

Let us Walk in His Way:

Dear Lord, we know that you are the Prince of Peace. Thank You for giving us access to this great and precious gift, as we follow Your direction to attain it. You promise that we can lie down safely as we sleep knowing that what we most desire is found in this new acronym for PEACE: Purposeful Existence After Christ’s Example. We thank You in Jesus’ name, Amen.
