kaleidoscope for children

Welcome to kaleidoscope, the children’s ministry partner of Carry the Light Ministries. It is very clear that children matter greatly to our Creator God. Jesus made this very evident to His disciples when He spoke to them about the Kingdom of God and how we are to be like little children in order to enter it (Mark 10:13-16). When considering the importance of children in God’s sovereign economy, we need only to look to scripture to see their value. The psalmist praises how God has placed value to His creation when he declares, “for I am fearfully and wonderfully made . . . my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you” (Psalm 139:14-15). Created in His image (Genesis 1:27), children are a gift to us from God (Psalm 127:3), therefore our heritage to the generations to come (Proverbs 17:6).

In two other biblical accounts, the gospels indicate that the disciples were having an argument about who would be the greatest in the kingdom, and receive a noble seat at the side of Jesus. Discerning their hearts, Jesus brings a little child to His side and tells them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great” (Matthew 18:1-5; Mark 9:34-37; Luke 9:46-48). These verses provide clear evidence of the value that God has given to children, and communicated to us by Jesus! Therefore, as stewards of our greatest gift—our children—we are to “train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6), and this we do to the glory of God. Moreover, this same proverb indicates that “folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him” (Proverbs 22:15).

Carry the Light Ministries affirms the words of Jesus to receive these little ones in His name, and to “teach them diligently to your children” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). This is why kaleidoscope for children will begin with the word of God—the Bible—to teach the little ones equally, as disciples of Christ. Every week kaleidoscope will present a bible story that is read to your child to open their minds to the biblical narratives that have been shared through generations. Additionally, they will have an activity that relates to the corresponding bible story of the week, plus a scripture verse for them to learn and memorize. When this ministry becomes available, you will find kaleidoscope for children on our Carry the Light Ministries YouTube channel.

It is our prayer that your child receive and accept Christ through these stories and activities. Research has proven (and Jesus reinforces this point) that children tend to be more receptive to the Gospel more than any other age group. Moreover, when a child is regularly receiving biblical instruction, and it is reinforced within a loving family environment and church fellowship, they are highly likely to grow into responsible adults that will ensure that their children will do the same. This is God’s love—the gospel—as told in John 3:16. How we teach our children ensures that this love continues. We are excited to bring content to your child once this ministry is launched. We will announce its opening on our social media.

Our dictionary tells us that a kaleidoscope is an optical instrument with two or more reflecting surfaces tilted to each other at an angle, so that one or more objects on one end of these mirrors are shown as a regular symmetrical pattern when viewed from the other end, from repeated reflection. Little colorful objects reflect off one another and create beautiful patterns that give us joy—and so do children. This is why God delights in children. Carry the Light celebrates the beauty of God’s little ones and, at times, will feature the creativity of our children’s art.
