To the Righteous Voter: Remember Jesus
To the Righteous Voter: Remember Jesus
What would a person facing death think about? Personal accomplishments? Family? Friends? For the Apostle Paul, it was all about Jesus. Knowing his life was coming to an end, Paul writes to his disciple Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:8, “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel.”
In Jesus Christ, the Father’s message to us is, did you “See and believe?” What else are we to do but go to the empty tomb, gaze inside, and “See and believe!” In Christ, sin and death are defeated! In fact, Christ’s resurrection guarantees we are forgiven; and then one day, by His power, all who have their faith and trust in Him will be raised from death to eternal life! Praise the Lord!
As you ponder who you will vote for in the upcoming Presidential election, remember Jesus! Think about how He sacrificed His life for the atonement of your sins so you can have eternal life. Think of how He humbled Himself and became a man with the same limitations of a human body! Think of how He became a servant and made it His mission to seek and to save those who are lost—even to the point of suffering the most dreadful of executions: crucifixion! Consider His death and burial, then try to wrap your mind around the fact that He rose physically from the dead and is alive right now, in heaven, and in the lives of His people! Praise God!
Beloved, it is important that you get out and vote in November, so make sure you do that. However, one day, if you think about your life and the decisions you made, what will you want to think about? Will it be who you voted for in this election or will it be how you saw Jesus and believed? Remember Jesus!
