Pitiful Preaching

Pitiful Preaching

If I told you the "god" that is preached from pulpits today has no power to save and no ability to do anything for anyone, would you believe me?  If you don’t believe me, then you might believe these actual statements about God taken from sermons preached in churches that are now posted on YouTube.  Listen to this:

"God wants to save you if you will let Him."  “God wants to bless you if you will meet his conditions." "God has done all he can do, it's now up to you; just make a step and he will meet you halfway." “God can't do anything for you unless you let him."  "Give Jesus your heart."

In contrast, here is what the Bible says about God:

Psalm 115:3 (CSB): "Our God is in heaven and does whatever he pleases.”  Daniel 4:35 (NIV): “All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth.”

Another fallacy heard in pulpits today is, “Jesus will come into your heart if you will open it and let him in.”  There was a woman named Lydia who was listening to Paul’s preaching and in Acts 16:14 (NASB) we learn this, “The Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul.”  Now, does that sound like a God who can't do anything to save you, help you, or bless you without your approval?

Beloved, the God of the Bible doesn’t need your help nor your cooperation in order to save you, help you, or bless you.  Be very careful that you believe the Bible and its description of God instead of believing in the pitiful and powerless "god" that is preached in many pulpits today!  Make no mistake about it: the God of the Bible saves, helps, and blesses whom He will when He will!   "Salvation is of the LORD” (Jonah 2:9, NKJV).
