In the Waiting Room
In the Waiting Room
Waiting long periods of time for things we desire: a husband, a job, a baby, a home to call our own or any number of wishes we may have, can seriously shake our faith and even cause us to doubt the power and goodness of God.
In the Book of Proverbs, Solomon says that “Hope deferred makes the heart sick” (Proverbs 13:12). What is the remedy for our unanswered prayers? First, we must remember that God knows far more than we do concerning the things we pray for. He knows what His best is for our lives and has had a loving plan for each of us since the beginning of time. God has proven the magnitude of His great love for us by sending His only Son, Jesus, to come to Earth, to suffer and die for our sins, so that we who believe in Him may have our sins forgiven and enjoy eternity with Him. He promises in Psalm 37:4 that if we delight ourselves in Him, He will give us the desires of our hearts. In other words, the secret is to align our desires with His perfect will for us, not that of our own.
Let us Walk in His Way:
Dear Lord, we come by faith, believing that You know better than we do, what we need for life, godliness, and the peace and joy You promised to Your children. We submit our wills to Your plans for us. Help us to trust You more each day and to surrender more of our desires to what You desire for us. Comfort us, Lord, as we wait with hope. In Your Holy Name, we pray. Amen.
