Know Your Enemy

Did you know that Satan, the Devil, is the enemy of God and he is your enemy too?  How well do you know him?  Did you know that originally he was a cherub by the name of Lucifer?  Did you know that God appointed him to a very unique and powerful position in His court?  In Ezekiel 28:14 it says he was “anointed as a guardian cherub.”  He was to guard the holiness of God and lead all of heaven in the worship of God.  He was a powerful angel—if not the most powerful of them all!  

God says of Lucifer, in Ezekiel 28:15-16, “You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created until wickedness was found in you . . . So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you…”  Lucifer was blinded by his own magnificence. He succumbed to egotistical arrogance, and in his blinding pride, he instigated a monstrous rebellion against God, and resulted in he and one-third of the angels expelled from heaven and driven to earth in disgrace.  

Sin radically and catastrophically changed Lucifer forever - because he was expelled from the Source of all Truth; lies became his reality; in fact, Jesus says in John 8:44 “… he is a liar and the father of all lies.”  In John 10:10, Jesus also describes Satan as a “thief who comes only to steal and kill and destroy.”  Peter warns us in 1 Peter 5:8 that Satan is “your adversary the devil” who “prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 

Beloved, Satan is on the prowl; he wants to devour you!  If you are not living in a right relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ, you are living a lie, Satan’s lie, and he already has you.  Today, turn from your life of sin and surrender your heart to Jesus Christ, and be “rescued from the kingdom of darkness and transferred . . . into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins” Colossians 1:13-14.  Praise the Lord!
