Jesus, Our Prince of Peace

Can we really have peace on earth? It seems like we’ve had anything but peace since the world began. BREAKING NEWS: We have the Prince of Peace among us!  Isaiah 9:6 tells us: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called…Prince of Peace”   

In this passage, the Hebrew word for peace, “shalom,” doesn’t merely mean the absence of conflict; it’s the idea that not only has all conflict ended, but that something better is in its place.  That “something better” is Jesus, the Prince of Peace! The peace He offers doesn’t necessarily bring peace to our circumstances, but rather, He brings peace to our hearts.  It’s a heart restoration that brings wholeness and completeness, resulting in feelings of security, safety, and contentment. It’s a peace that surpasses all understanding and is not found in religion, books, philosophy, education, relationships, or treaties.  It’s found only in Jesus Christ, as Paul tells us in Romans 5:1, “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  He is the captain and ruler of peace!  Praise the Lord! 

Beloved, this kind of peace is available to you only because Jesus Christ paid for your sins through His death on the cross.  If you do not know Jesus, the Prince of Peace, then you will never experience peace in your heart.  Today, surrender your heart to God by accepting the perfect gift Jesus, the Prince of Peace, offers—Himself! “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” John 1:12.
