Jesus, Our Everlasting Father
Jesus, Our Everlasting Father
“Everlasting Father” Have you ever heard of such a dramatic name for a baby? Isaiah 9:6 says, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called…Everlasting Father…”
In the Hebrew language this is a hyphenated word meaning “Father” and “possessor of eternity.” We already know that God is eternal; therefore, by referring to the baby as also possessing eternity, Isaiah is announcing that He would be absolutely unique, someone never before seen in the history of the world. The Messiah, whom we know to be Jesus, would be God in the flesh with all His power, might, and wisdom at His disposal. Praise the Lord!
As our “Father,” Jesus speaks, acts, thinks, and loves as the Father Himself would. In fact, Jesus said in John 14:9, “…Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.” Beloved, no matter what you may be going through in life, whether suffering or disappointment, pain or sorrow, no matter how others may be treating you, no matter what life may bring you, you can have peace, contentment, and confidence because Jesus, our Everlasting Father, will be there to provide guidance, comfort, and direction, as only a father would do for His children. If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus, our “Everlasting Father,” I beg you, do it today! Everything in this world is temporary. It will soon pass away. But your life in Christ will last forever. And His fatherly love for you will never end. Hallelujah!
