Call to Me

Call to Me

Have you ever thought about who it really is you are talking to when you pray?

In Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) the Prophet Jeremiah proclaimed, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

God actually had the audacity to declare, in no uncertain terms, that when we pray we are to call to HIM, the God of the Bible.  “Call to Me!”  Not Buddha, not Mohammed, not Confucius, not nature, not the universe, not demons, and not Satan.  “Call to Me!”  Yahweh. The Great I AM. He is JEHOVAH-JIREH - the God who provides all my needs. He is JEHOVAH-ROI - my caring Shepherd. He is JEHOVAH-SHALOM - the God of my Peace. He is JEHOVAH-ROPHEKA - the God who heals me. He is JEHOVAH-ELYON - the Lord Most High. He is JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH - the Lord who is there for me.  He is El SHADDAI – God Almighty, the Creator and Sustainer of all life.  “Call to Me!”

Being God, Jesus declared in John 14:13-14 (ESV), “Whatever you ask in my name, that will I do…if you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” Jesus is saying, “Call to Me!”  Who?  The LAMB OF GOD. The Great Shepherd. Our Redeemer. Our Mediator. The Word of Life.  The Everlasting Father.  The Prince of Peace.  The Great I AM.  The Wonderful Counselor.  The Way, The Truth, and The Life.  The King of Kings and The Lord of Lords. “Call to Me!”

Beloved, when you pray, I challenge you to seriously consider Who it is you are really talking to.  Meditate on these wonderful descriptions of God, enjoy the richness they bring to His character, and embrace the blessing and privilege it is to commune with such a God.  He is listening, and ready to answer, if you will call to Him!  Praise the Lord!
