Have you Heard the Good News?
How do you respond to the good news found in John’s gospel?
This verse from John’s gospel is one of the most recognizable, and memorized verses of the Christian faith. It reveals the gospel message and the depth of God's love for us. Jesus Christ came into this world and lived a sinless life, and because of the father's love for us, was crucified on a Roman cross and died. He was buried, and three days later was resurrected from the grave. God sent his son to the cross as a substitute to cover our sins. We don't deserve God's mercy, but thankfully, deserving isn't the basis for his divine love. God's very nature is love. He proved his unconditional love by sending his Son as the only way to reconcile us back to him.
The condition for reconciliation is that we believe in Jesus and what he did. The benefit of his resurrection is that we too, will also one day have new bodies and have eternal life with him in Heaven! Our belief makes all the difference. Eternal life with Jesus is guaranteed the moment we genuinely believe and confess our sorrow over the sins that have separated us from God in the first place. Eternal life through Jesus is the assurance that we will spend eternity in Heaven. It’s a gift that will never be taken away. God loved, he gave, we believe, and we will receive. What an extraordinary reward we have in Jesus!
Have you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?
It’s the greatest and most advantageous decision you will ever make in your lifetime. Your life will be forever changed and have eternal consequences. If you are already a believer in Jesus Christ, I hope that you won’t take for granted the sacrifice Jesus made and be willing to share the great news of salvation with others.
Have you shared the good news with someone today? If not now, when?
Dear Father, thank you for sending your only son to die so that I could spend eternal life with him. I pray that his sacrifice produces gratitude in my heart and compels me to love others as you love me. Give me the boldness to share the good news about Jesus with those that I meet so that they too, can spend eternal life with him. It is in Jesus’ name that I pray. Amen.
